Our Story

From direct aid to lasting change

HTHH began in 2009 as the vision of Michel Orestal, a passionate leader committed to helping Haitians in both Florida and Haiti. Witnessing the struggles of Haitian families facing economic hardship, social marginalization, and limited access to essential resources, Orestal set out to build an organization that offers practical support and real empowerment.

What started as direct aid — food and essential supplies for families in need — grew into something bigger. Orestal and his team recognized that lasting change requires more than immediate relief, so HTHH’s mission expanded to include educational programs and skills development designed to foster self-reliance and economic independence.

Today, HTHH stands as a testament to that original vision — encompassing youth leadership, community services, education, and immigration & legal support, all working to uplift Haitian families and help them build a brighter, sustainable future.

Looking ahead, HTHH aims to expand its reach — working to create sustainable development solutions that address both immediate needs and long-term goals. The organization is focused on fostering leadership among young Haitians, enabling them to tackle issues like identity, economic instability, and community resilience with innovative, homegrown solutions.

By doing so, HTHH envisions a Haiti where poverty is significantly reduced, and communities are empowered to shape their own destinies — one family, one student, one leader at a time.

What We Do

Five interconnected areas of support, designed to move families from crisis to self-reliance.

Community Services

Job readiness training, financial education, and job placement support for low-income families and the wider Haitian community.

Educational & Skills Development

Vocational training and educational programs — including entrepreneurship, digital literacy, and adult education — equipping disadvantaged Haitians with practical, lasting skills.

Youth Services

After-school tutoring and youth development for children in Florida, plus scholarships, teacher training, and school upgrades for students in Haiti.

Immigration & Legal Services

Guidance and support for Haitian immigrants navigating the U.S. immigration system — including visas, asylum cases, and citizenship applications.

Crisis Response

Emergency relief following natural disasters in Haiti — food, water, shelter, medical aid, and mental health support when it’s needed most.

Leadership Development

Mentorship and career exploration for youth aged 15–25, building the next generation of self-reliant, innovative Haitian leaders.

Questions donors ask

Where does my donation actually go?
Job readiness training, youth scholarships and tutoring, immigration and legal support, and emergency relief after disasters in Haiti. Gifts are not restricted to one program unless you ask us to restrict them.
Which way of giving is best?
Zelle costs the least — there are no fees and the money arrives the same day, so the full amount reaches the programs. For larger gifts, a check or bank transfer is usually simplest.
Is my donation tax-deductible?
Open “Need a receipt for your taxes?” in the Ways to Give section and send us the details. We will email you a receipt along with the organization's tax identification details, so your accountant has what they need.
Can I volunteer if I do not speak Haitian Creole?
Yes. Plenty of roles need no Creole at all — tutoring, events, fundraising, administration. Tell us which languages you speak on the sign-up form and we will match you accordingly.
Do you work in Haiti as well as Florida?
Both. Programs run in Lake Worth and the surrounding area of Florida, and in Haiti through scholarships, teacher training, school improvements and disaster relief.
Can my company, school or church partner with you?
Yes, and we would welcome it — from matched giving and sponsorship to hosting a workshop or a drive. Send us a message and we will find something that fits.
